A great day out on a steam traction engine - brought to you by the team at Berrybrook Steam & Classics!
We spend the day running a traction engine in the yard and on the road.
Morning
We begin at 9am with a short safety briefing followed by a tour of the traction engine. We will then light up and get up to steam!
Light refreshments will be supplied whilst cleaning the paintwork and oiling the motion.
Following this, you will have an opportunity to familiarise yourself with the controls and steer around our yard. We will then head out to the road, with participants taking in turns at steering to the local pub.
Lunch
We head to the local pub to sit back in the garden and enjoy a pub lunch (not included).
Afternoon
Following lunch, we head out onto the road to drive the engine back to Berrybrook. We return by 3pm and put the engine to bed concluding the day by around 4:30pm.
Don’t forget the camera!
This is very much an enjoyable, fun day out. Whilst it is less instructional than our miniature training course, we do hope you will take something away from it and feel more confident around traction engines.
How to book...
There are two ways of booking the course; you can either buy a voucher on this page (which will be sent to you in the post), or you can give us a call on 01392 833301 to organise a date and pay over the phone.
There is no requirement to organise a date prior to purchasing a voucher, usually (where the voucher is intended to be a gift), the recipient will give us a call when they are ready to redeem it. We usually need at least one months notice for a booking to be made.
Participant and Spectator Information
We usually run experience days on Wednesdays between May and October with a minimum of three and maximum of four participants per day - we will organise this when you make your booking. If you book a party of three, the course will be exclusive to you with no other participants joining you. There is now the option to buy an exclusive day for two participants however this is not an option for individual participants. If you book an exclusive day for either two or three participants, we can usually be more flexible on the day of the week however will be unable to offer the course on weekends.
Spectators are more than welcome to accompany the group and can ride on the trailer free of charge. Please make sure you advise us when calling as seating is limited to one spectator per participant!
All participants should be a minimum of 17 years old and ideally hold a minimum of a provisional driving licence as the course involves steering on the road. There are options for those who don't hold a licence so do contact us if you would still like to participate.
Vouchers are typically valid up to two years from date of issue.

Orders are usually sent to UK buyers using either Parcelforce or Royal Mail on a 48 hour tracked service. It is possible to upgrade to a 24 hour service.
Postage costs to UK addresses are determined by basket total.

All orders are dispatched by the next working day and will not be dispatched on public bank holidays, advertised closure times and over weekends.
RESTRICTED PRODUCTS
Products containing Hexamine (notably, Mamod Waxed Fuel Tablets and Wilesco WiTabs) are now regulated in the United Kingdom and therefore no longer available for purchase by the general public without the correct licence in place. For this reason, both products are available for collection from store only and, at point of collection, can only be supplied to buyers who can produce a valid EPP Licence.

We are currently accepting orders from UK, the EU and a range of countries worldwide. Whilst we ship to many countries, we may not ship to your country. If we are unable to ship to your country, you will be unable to checkout.
RESTRICTIONS
We are unable to supply solid fuel tablets to buyers from overseas.
