A coal-fired 1" scale Fowler Ploughing Engine, sold originally by Maxitrak (Pre-Owned)
Offered for sale is this example of the popular 1" scale Fowler Ploughing engine, originally sold by Maxitrak and built to a high-level of detail. This example looks to have been enjoyed and fired (coal-fired) since it was new. It would benefit from a little tidying up in places, and a gear has gone missing from the winch drive setup, but it is largely in good condition and could certainly be enjoyed either as a display model, using compressed air or in steam!
Key Features:
- Copper boiler built originally by respected firm, Maxitrak. We don't typically include commercial boiler testing within the sale of miniatures of this scale. Feel free to contact us regarding options going forward.
- Two-speed, compound cylinder arrangement. Slide valve actuated by Stephenson's linkage. Includes winch winding gear however missing one gear.
- Mechanical, crank driven water pump.
- Pressure release valves.
- Mechanically, the engine has been built to high standard. It stands well and looks smart. These 1" scale ploughing engines were always famed for accuracy and detail - we sold them when brand new and were always impressed with them.
- Cosmetically, it is painted to a high standard in tradition, Fowler-style livery.
- The wheels are fitted with metal strakes, typical of this type of working engine. Whilst likely powerful enough to drive around (we've not tried!), we suggest that this scale of miniature would be better enjoyed on a bench or similar.
Overall, a pleasant miniature which is a delight to see!
Delivery can be organised via the pallet network to all UK addresses and Worldwide. Delivery within the UK starts from £100 + VAT for postage and packaging - please speak to us for further options.

Products containing Hexamine (notably, Mamod Waxed Fuel Tablets and Wilesco WiTabs) are now regulated in the United Kingdom and therefore no longer available for purchase by the general public without the correct licence in place. For this reason, both products are available for collection from store only and, at point of collection, can only be supplied to buyers who can produce a valid EPP Licence.
